An Exclusive Interview with TV Host, Celebrity, Yoga Teacher Jaymee Ong
Interview posted since May 17th,2009

Hello everybody, I have with us today our famous TV Host and Celebrity Jaymee Ong. Whenever I meet Jaymee in the gym, she is always diligently working hard in her workouts routines. It is apparent that Jaymee is one who incorporates fitness in her lifestyle despite her busy schedule. She attended my yoga class one Thursday morning and through her postures, it is obvious that Jaymee is a strong yogi. She is also very competent in most of the dynamic yoga postures. After a short conversion with her I got to know that she is very interested in Yoga and has even been practicing the art for the past 10 years. Jaymee is a certified Yoga Teacher and use to teach at True Yoga.

Let’s find out how she is doing as a Yoga Teacher.

Name: Jaymee Ong

Country: Singapore

Designation:  TV Host, Celebrity, Yoga Teacher

1) What is your workout regimen like?

I do some form of yoga everyday, whether it’s 30 mins or 90 mins.  I also run and do light weights.

2) What makes you want to become a Yoga teacher?

I had been practicing for 10 years and wanted to expand my knowledge.  Initially I had no intentions of becoming a teacher, but discovered that I loved it!

3) You have been teaching for a while, what is the best thing that happens in your line as a Yoga teacher?

I find every class I teach I learn something new from my students.  In big classes you are dealing with people at different levels, so you must be able to adapt easily and quickly.  I also love hearing feedback about how great a person feels after class, or that they are sleeping better, or their strength back is improving.

4) Any bad experience that happen during your teaching?

Not yet!

5) What do you think of teaching Yoga as a career?

If you really  have a passion for yoga, then it’s perfect.  It is constantly evolving and you will never stop learning within your own practice and also as a teacher.

6) People tend not to see much of this career, what are your views on this?

I don’t really pay much attention to what other people think.  As long as I’m happy and fulfilled then other people’s perceptions of me don’t really matter.

7) What are your advice for people who wants to teach Yoga as a career?

Make sure you have a real thirst and passion for yoga, and be patient.  It’s not something you learn overnight.  Remain open to the different environments you will encounter.

8) You are quite a fitness fanatic, what do you think you would like to do next?

I am hoping to do a Diploma in Diet and Nutrition by the end of the year.  I’ll also have completed my Pre/Post Natal Certification next week.

Fantastic! Thank you so much for your time, Jaymee. You are one ambitious girl! I am sure you will be a great role model for everyone who is interested in working in the Fitness Industry.

So, for all people out there, whether you want to become a Personal Trainer or a Group Exercise Fitness Trainer in this industry, it is always important to constantly upgrade yourselves. It is a never-ending learning process so ALWAYS THINK BIG and I’m sure you will be able to go a long way in this industry.
